MEET THE ADVISOR

Craig Kopel bridges the gap between enterprise software, supply chain, and manufacturing operations.

For over 16 years, he has helped mid-market companies replace spreadsheets, rescue failing ERP initiatives, and build integrated systems connecting purchasing, inventory, production, finance, and operations.

His unique perspective stems from hands-on operating experience. Before becoming an IFS Solutions Architect, Craig spent six years at Teledyne Oil & Gas, rising from planning to senior manufacturing operations and supply chain leadership.

Do the easy stuff well before trying to do the hard stuff poorly.

IMPACT INITIATIVES

Turn Complex Operations Into One Business System That Works

Craig works with mid-market manufacturers and complex operating businesses when disconnected processes, spreadsheets, or troubled ERP projects are limiting performance. He diagnoses the operational problem beneath the technology request, aligns leadership with frontline reality, and architects the systems, workflows, and implementation path required to improve visibility, control, and scale.

TACTICAL TIMING

  • Your ERP implementation is approaching go-live, but confidence in the project is falling.

  • Purchasing, inventory, production, and finance are operating from different spreadsheets and assumptions.

  • Leadership expects new software to fix processes no one has redesigned or standardized.

  • Inventory is growing while planners still lack reliable demand, capacity, and material visibility.

  • Frontline teams are resisting the system because they were never included in its design.

RECENT RESULTS

THE SITUATION

A $150 million manufacturing company was carrying excess inventory while purchasing, production, and planning operated through disconnected data and processes. Leadership lacked a reliable view of demand, material requirements, and operational priorities, tying up millions in working capital.

THE WORK

Craig and his team connected purchasing more directly to production, streamlined planning and inventory processes, and replaced siloed spreadsheets with a more integrated operating model. They focused first on the high-volume daily workflows creating the most waste, then aligned the system configuration with how the business needed to plan and execute.

THE OUTCOME

The company reduced inventory by approximately $8 million in less than 180 days. Beyond the working-capital improvement, leadership gained clearer operational visibility and a stronger foundation for ongoing planning, purchasing, and production decisions.

BEHIND THE BIO

What life or career experience most shaped the way you approach your work today?

Working inside Teledyne Oil & Gas shaped how I approach every engagement. I spent six years moving from planning into senior manufacturing operations and supply chain leadership, using IFS every day—not studying it from the outside. That experience taught me that software problems are usually business-process problems in disguise. I still begin by understanding how the work actually moves before recommending architecture or technology.

What brought you to this community and what keeps you connected to it?

I was born in Florida and grew up in Volusia County, so this community is not a market I discovered later—it is home. My career began by selling to local manufacturers and eventually led into enterprise systems, global operations, and complex transformation work. What keeps me connected is the opportunity to bring that experience back to the region and help local businesses build stronger operating foundations.

What do colleagues & clients tend to discover about you after working together?

Colleagues tend to discover that I am direct, calm under pressure, and willing to get into the weeds. I can work with executives in the boardroom, then sit beside planners, buyers, and production teams to understand what is actually happening. I avoid jargon, ask practical questions, and make complex systems understandable. I also believe the people closest to the work usually know where the process is breaking.

What matters to you outside of work that also influences how you lead, advise, or collaborate?

My family and blue-collar upbringing still shape how I lead. I grew up holding the flashlight while my dad rebuilt engines and learned early that everything is figure-outable. Outside work, I value being present with my family, working with my hands, and solving the real problem in front of me. Those experiences keep me practical, grounded, and respectful of the people expected to live with the systems we design.
