Politics. IMO.

Why are "politics" such a tricky topic?!

When you lump things into the bucket of "politics", it instantly becomes a "this or that" conversation.

It's divisive. It's rooted in confabulations of half truths, big opinions, and small egos.

And like the overwhelming majority of things in life - it is a spectrum.
There is a bountiful in-between of views, values, facts and fears.

THAT is where I like to play.

The space that is abstract.

The undefined.

AND...

When you stand for nothing, you fall for anything.

One way this amorphous space can be more easily understood is by looking at things categorically, by topic, issue, policy, problems, and people versus the divisive polarity of red or blue.

Here are a few categories to get the conversation started:

ABORTION
Lawmakers should not be making medical decisions.

GAY MARRIAGE
A marriage certificate is a groupon for taxes and insurance, nothing else is regulated by sexual preference, why should this be?

STATES RIGHTS
The closer you get to the people, the more you know them.
And, we are an entire unit of 50 states. So balance.

 TAXES
Taxes without transparency creates allegiances without accountability.

No one benefiting from infrastructure should be absolved of their contribution towards it. And, people should pay in direct proportion to the extent that they benefit.

Meaning, a billionaire can not be a billionaire without hundreds of thousands of people working for them. Therefore, if billionaires are benefitting in such large amounts, the equal and opposite should be true that they contribute in equal volume to the infrastructure as a whole.

GUNS
So long as we have an armed and localized military presence, especially one with qualified immunity, the public should maintain the right and ability to arm themselves in direct proportion to the force with which they are surrounded by.

RELIGION
Having beliefs is a completely personal decision that should stay within the family unit. Just as you don't want to be told what to think, feel, beelive, or be, no one else should be mandated to the beliefs of another.

SEXUALITY
Like sandwiches, everyone has a slightly different preference and that has no bearing on anything that anyone else does in their life.

SMALL BUSINESS
The phrasing is inaccurate as it's inclusive of companies from concept to under $50M in cashflow. Breaking down the nuances of stages, industries, funding needs, and community contribution should all be contributing factors in categorizing businesses that are the overwhelming financial drivers of the economy.

IMMIGRATION
Anyone on American soil comes from either an indigenous, immigrant or enslaved bloodline.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION
The opposite of diversity is same. The opposite of equity is judgemental. And the opposite of inclusion is ostracizing.

Give me one scenario where being the same, judging and ostracizing others has worked in the favor of the majority.

Ultimately, I stand on business.

If I go to an Italian Restaurant, I'm going there because I want pizza, or chicken parm, or something of the sorts. If I go to a Mexican Restaurant, I'm going because I want nachos, or a burrito, or lotso tacos!

If someone went into an Italian Restaurant and demand to be served Nachos, and their argument was that it's a public business, everyone would recognize that person is nuts and say - just go to a Mexican Restaurant.

Same thing here.

Having my own business grants me the ability to speak up unapologetically without fear of retribution from my sole income source—my employer.

Yes, I need to be mindful of the greater community of potential clients. And, I have views, opinions, stances and perspectives.

You get to vote with your dollar.

This isn't red.
This isn't blue.
It's green.

I'm Liz Dederer. And I stand on business.
